Once upon a time, there was a girl who grew up believing she was secretly a mermaid. She knew she probably wasn't--after all, no matter how long she splashed in the water, her fingers still turned to prunes in the end--but people all her life had been telling her she was one.

When the little girl grew up, she discovered that

though she wasn't a mermaid, she had a special kind of magic in her that not many people could have. She decided that she would spend the rest of her life trying to share her magic with the rest of the world, and hope, that if there were other children who secretly thought they were magical, they would know they were not alone.
